LAST WEEK, 23rd of May 2009, I was hired by a friend of mine and also a member of Pixelworks Photography & Design team, Mr. Iskandar to shoot his cousin’s solemnization & reception at Dewan Felda Perdana. I was informed that it was some sort of a gift from him to his cousin (how sweet that was). So it was no surprise that there were about 4 photographers that day and 1 video man covering the event.
Of course I am not the official photographer, but nonetheless I were hired to do the job, so it was quite a challenge working in this kind of environment, but it’s all positive environment I can say. In my opinion, because all of us were in this business, either in a short period of time or long, we were bound to have respect and understanding of each others space and time to work out our shots. Example, like how we don’t want others to block our view or other photographer accidentally entering the frame. Such thing did not happen that day, mostly because we are all professional. At least that was what I felt about it. I don’t know about other photographer’s feel though.
I strongly believe that in any field, level of professionalism and knowledge does not only come from books and classes, although it helps, but mainly from first hand experience about what we do. Understanding and respect comes from interaction and communication with others, while in the same time we must accept criticism and have open discussion about it no matter what level the other person are. Only in that way, we can develop.
Selamat Pengantin Baru kepada Shafiq & Mazlina…
